Let yourself be swept away by music during some spring days in Halmstad and Falkenberg when the Tommie
Haglund Festival finally returns.
With a South American visit from Orquesta Filarmonica de Bogotá
and some of our time’s most skilled vocal and instrumental soloists, we dare to promise world-class
music. In addition there will be workshops for young musicians in Halland, panel discussions and the
release of the book “Ögonblickets oändlighet”, about Tommie Haglund’s life and work.
The Tommie Haglund Festival is a collaboration between the Halmstad City Council, the Region Halland, the Swedish Church in Halmstad and Sensus, with contributions from the Delius Trust (United Kingdom) and businesses in Halland.
The 75-piece Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá – one of South America’s absolute finest orchestras – guested the festival under Joachim Gustafsson. Tommie Haglund’s concertos for violin and cello were performed, and in the cello concerto recorded space sounds from NASA could be heard.
The collaboration between Per Gessle and Tommie Haglund was premiered – the genre-crossing piece Making Something out of Nothing – and the composers met in the conversation “Meeting across genre boundaries”.
During the festival, Aram Yardumian’s interview book about Tommie Haglund’s musical life, Ögonblickets oändlighet, was released by Themis förlag.
